I’ve got a book review half written. But guess what. I haven’t worked on my manuscript for over a week, and that takes precedent over the website.
You’ll get over it, I’m sure.
It feels weird to post something that is essentially saying I’m not posting anything, but I can’t have people thinking I forgot.

Hey Beth, I’m taking the same road. Everything is a welcomed distraction and oh so important. I love to blog, read blogs, answer e-mail, respond to authors, read query letters and vet manuscripts. However, none of these activities gets my third book written. So, starting last week, the manuscript is the first thing I do in the morning while my energy is high. The rest I can do on cruise control.

Ah, what I’d give for a few hours of morning writing. Since I can’t have that, I’m re-dedicating Z’s naptime to my manuscript! I like your cruise control analogy–it’s perfect. 🙂
When it comes to understanding the difficulty of writing a MS and posting, and blogging, etc, etc, I am in the same boat. I have a four year old so I’m never at liberty to just sit down and write. I usually wind up trying to fast track any non-essentials when he’s taking a nap or busy on his leapster. Then, at night, when he’s asleep and I’m finally able to concentrate, usually not until 9pm, I sit down and let the words fly. I don’t have a organized plan or even a set amount of time. I have found that writing whenever, whereever and for however long I can, works best. It took me from chapter 1 to chapter 11, and over 50k words, in two months. I don’t know how it works and I’m not asking why, i’m just running with it. So here’s to unconventionality, posting a non-post and all, cheers!!
Hi Karyne! Most of my MS was written during Z’s naps and bedtime, too! I do (minimal) chores while she’s awake – in between playing with her and catering to her every whim.
